Short definitions of the terms Sentiosonics uses when writing about sound, frequency and the brain.

Beat frequency: Beat frequency, in a general sense, refers to the rate at which beats occur within a given time frame, often described in terms of beats per minute (BPM). It indicates the tempo or pace of a sequence of rhythmic beats, whether in music, sound patterns, or other periodic phenomena. This concept is fundamental in understanding the timing and rhythm of musical pieces and rhythmic sequences.
Tonal frequency: A tonal frequency refers to the pitch of a sound, measured in Hertz (Hz), and determines the musical note or tone perceived by the listener. It is a characteristic of sound that indicates the frequency of the sound wave vibrations producing the tone, with higher frequencies corresponding to higher pitches and lower frequencies to lower pitches.
